1. channels communication chat ooc talk hchat

these channels, type 'channel list'. There is a handful of channels
which will not appear on that list. These channels can be found at
the bottom of this helpfile.

Syntax: <channel name>

Typing a channel's name with no arguments will make you join a
channel. Once you have joined, you can type the channel's name
again to turn the channel on or off. You cannot read or write on
a channel without joining it first.

Syntax: <channel> <message>

Typing a channel name followed by text will send a message to
everyone who has the channel turned on.

Typing a channel name with an asterisk followed by a social name
will make you perform a social on any given channel.

Syntax: <channel> ,<emote text>

Typing a channel name with a comma followed by text will give the
appearance of performing an emote on any given channel.

Syntax: <channel name> wholist

Typing a channel name from the list below followed by 'wholist' will
display all players who have the channel turned on. Note that this
syntax is slightly different for player‑made channels. The syntax is
'channel who <channel name>'.

Channels not listed on the player‑created channels list are:

Auction : Auction‑related messages.
Hchat : House communication.
Fchat : Channel for players on your friends list.
Ghouse : Channel for all housed players.

2. channel commands
The symbol '@' is a shorthand way of typing 'channel'. For all the
channel syntaxes below, @ may replace channel. The following is a list
of channel commands. Each command must be preceded by 'channel' or
'@'. For example, '@ access' or 'channel access'.

Helpfiles are available for each command. Help 'channel <command>'
to read about each command.

3. channel access
Syntax: @ access <channel name> permit|remove <player name>

With this command, channel owners can give players access to their channel.
Players who have been given access can use the channel even if it is
read‑only or password protected.

If a channel is private and password protected, it can either be joined
with the password (see helpfile 'channel join') or the player can be given
access with this command.

If your channel is password protected and you change the password, anyone
who previously joined the channel will still be in the channel but will not
be able to view or write in it without unlocking it with the new password.
Players who have been given access will be able to continue viewing and
chatting without updating their password. Channels which have a minimum
level requirement can be used by players who have been given access, even if
they do not meet the level requirement.

This command is especially nice if you as a channel owner know there are
certain players who should forever maintain their viewing/chatting
privileges in the channel.

4. channel ban channel unban
Syntax: @ ban <channel name> <player name>

Channel owners have the right to ban anyone who is being a blockhead in the
channel. In order to ban someone, they must be online and have joined the
channel. Being banned from a channel means you can no longer view what is
being said on the channel or take part in the discussion. Under status on
the channels list it will say banned. Banned players show up with a '*'
next to their name on the channel's who list (see help 'channel who'). If
you are banned, you will not be able to leave the channel (see help 'channel
leave'). The channel name will only disappear from your channels list if
the channel expires or is deleted.

Syntax: @ unban <channel name> <player name>

Channel owners can lift a channel ban with this command. The banned player
must be online to become unbanned from the channel.

5. channel color
Syntax: @ color <channel name> <0‑7 or color name>

You can customize the color of any channel with this command. The channel
name will appear in the color on the channels list and all channel output
will be displayed in the color as well.

Each number matches a particular color. The list is:

1 Red
2 Green
3 Yellow
4 Blue
5 Magenta
6 Cyan
7 White/No Color
0 Black

The brightness can also be customized. See help 'channel brightness'.

If you are looking to change the color or brightness of rooms, objects,
exits, the say, tell, yell, or gtell channel, see help configuration.

6. channel create
Syntax: @ create <channel name> ("private")

Players can create a maximum of 3 channels each. The channel name must
consist of only letters, be no more than 15 letters and no shorter than 2,
and unique (no social or command name or already existing channel name).
The channel name will be lowercase, regardless of what is entered. Choose
an appropriate channel name or the channel will be deleted and your channel
creation privileges may be revoked. If the private flag is entered, the
channel will be private by default (see help 'channel private'). If no
private flag is added, the channel will be public to all.

Channels which are inactive over a period of 90 days will automatically be
purged.

7. channel delete
Syntax: @ delete <channel name> confirm

This syntax will demolish the channel. The channel will disappear from the
channels list and no longer be a command. Only the channel's primary owner
can delete the channel.

A channel will automatically be purged after 14 days of inactivity.

8. channel brightness
Syntax: @ brightness <channel name> <0‑1 or bright/dark>

You can customize the brightness of a channel output's color. 0 means dark
and 1 means bright.

9. channel info
Syntax: @ info <channel name>

The info command will display information about a given channel such as its
owners and moderators, whether it is public, private, or private and
passworded. How many players online have joined the channel, the channel's
minimum level required to use the channel, how many messages have thus far
been sent on the channel, and when the channel was created. Immortals will
also see the channel's unique id number and when the channel will expire.

10. channel leave
Syntax: @ leave <channel name>

In order to leave a channel you must have first joined it (by typing the
channel name with no arguments). When you leave a channel, it will no
longer show up on the list of channels you have joined and you won't be able
to access the channel's history. You cannot leave a channel if you are
banned on the channel.

If you are the primary owner of a channel, you must either delete the
channel or transfer ownership to someone else in order to leave the channel.
If you are a secondary owner, you will automatically be removed as an owner
of the channel if you leave it. The same goes for being a moderator.

11. channel level
Syntax: @ level <channel name> <level>

Channel owners are able to set a level on their channel so that only players
who are that level or higher may view what is said on the channel and chat
on it. If the owner sets sets the level higher than him or herself, he will
still be able to use the channel. Players who have been given unlimited
access to a channel will still be able to see messages on the channel and
chat on it even if they do not meet the level requirement.

12. channel list
Syntax: @ ("list")

Typing @ or 'channel' by itself will display a list of all the channels you
have joined. Typing '@ list' will list all channels created by other
players or immortals. Your main channel, if you have chosen one, will
appear with an '*' next to its name. Your channel status will be listed
under 'status'. On means you have joined the channel and have turned it on.
Off means you have joined the channel but have turned it off. If nothing is
displayed, it means you have not joined the channel. On the channels list
will also be the name of each channel's primary owner, the number of
messages sent on the channel thus far, and any channel flags.

13. channel main
Syntax: @ main <channel name>

To set a main channel, you must first join it. Once you have set a channel
as your main channel, you can use the '%s' syntax as a shorthand way of
typing the channel name. You can only have one main channel at a time.

14. channel notice
Syntax: @ notice <channel name> ("none")

If you are a primary owner of a channel, you can write the channel's notice
message. This message will be displayed to any player who joins the
channel. The message should be short (no longer than a small paragraph).
It can display anything you wish new channel joiners to know about your
channel. You can clear your channel's notice in the editor or with the
above syntax.

15. channel owner
Syntax: @ owner <channel name> add/remove <player name> (primary)

The first owner is the channel's primary owner, who has the most control
over the channel. The primary owner is the only one who can delete the
channel, rename it, set a notice message, or give someone else the primary
ownership over the channel. Each channel's primary owner is listed on the
channels list. Secondary owners are able to add and remove other secondary
owners and therefore should be picked with care.

To add a new owner, you must be at least a secondary owner of the channel.

Only the primary channel owner can transfer primary ownership of a channel
to someone else. To do so, the command is '@ owner <channelName> add
<playerName> primary'.

16. channel password
Syntax: @ password <channel name> (<password>|none)

Both primary and secondary channel owners can set their channel's password
with this command. Anyone who has not been given unlimited access to the
channel (see help 'channel access') or hasn't unlocked the channel with the
password will not be able to view the discussion on the channel, nor will
they be able to chat on it. To give a channel a password, the channel must
first be set to private.

In case you forget the password to your channel, simply type '@ password
<channel name>' and it will print the password.

17. channel private
Syntax: @ private <channel name>

Channels flagged as private (but not passworded) are read‑only. Until the
channel is given a password, anyone can read the channel. To allow players
to chat on private channels, access must be granted (see help 'channel
access').

18. channel public
Syntax: @ public <channel name>

Channels are by default public, which means that everyone can view the
discussion and chat on the channel. If a channel is private, it may be
opened up to the public with this command. If the channel was previously
passworded, the password will be cleared once it is set to public.

19. channel rename
Syntax: @ rename <channel name> <new name>

Only the primary owner of a channel can rename the channel. The same name
restrictions of creating a new channel apply to renaming it.

20. channel join
Syntax: @ join <channel name> <password>

A channel which is private and passworded can only be viewed and chatted on
by joining it with the password or being given access. If over the course
of time the channel's password changes, all players who have joined the
channel will need to join the channel again in order to chat on it, unless
they have been granted unlimited access.

21. channel who
Syntax: @ who <channel name>

Typing this command without an argument will automatically show anyone who
has joined the channel and their channel status (on, off, or banned).
Typing this command without a channel name will display your main channel's
who screen, if you have already set a main channel.

A * will appear next to a player's name if you are ignoring them or if they
are ignoring you.

22. channel history
Syntax: <channel name> ‑h (<lines to show>)

All channels display the last 20 lines of chatting history by default. More
can be displayed by adding a lines argument, such as 'chat ‑h 178' to see
the last 178 lines of chat history. Histories save through copyovers and
quitting.

23. channel moderators
Syntax: @ moderator <channel name> <player name>

Channel owners can set moderators for their channel. Moderators have the
ability to ban and unban players from the channel. In order to add someone
as a moderator, they must first have joined the channel. To remove a
moderator, simply use the same syntax as you would to add them.

24. channel announcements
Syntax: @ announcements on|off

This will toggle announcements on channels on or off. A message will be
displayed in the channel when a player joins or leaves the channel, if the
channel expires or is deleted, when someone is banned or unbanned, when
someone is given access to the channel, when someone unlocks the channel,
and when there is a new owner or moderator.

This toggle does not disable messages from the announcements channel itself.

25. channel nofilter uncensor censor
Syntax: @ censor <channel name> <on or off>

As an owner or moderator of a private, passworded channel, you can turn the
language censor on or off. If the channel is made public, the censor will
be turned on if it was previously toggled off.

26. channel ancestors
Syntax: cast 'channel ancestors'

Cooldown: 10 minutes

By channeling the magic of one's ancestors, a Witch may fully recover their
mana, even while in a dire situation, such as engaged in battle. Once this
ability has been mastered, the Witch will be skilled enough to channel
enough magic to improve their mana regeneration for hours to come.

This spell has a 4 second lag.

27. newbie channel
Syntax: newbie <message>
newbie *social
newbie ,emote

This channel is for new players, regardless of House or level, to ask
questions about the game. Information supplied on this channel should be
sincere and helpful.

If you are an experienced player who wishes to be active in helping
newbies and have a (Helper) flag designating you as such on the who screen,
seek out an Immortal on the personal board.

28. channel broadcast
Syntax: @ broadcast <channelName> (option)

Certain channels, like mudevent, can be rather spammy. Therefore, some
channels have broadcast options that can be toggled on and off. For
example, during treasure hunt events, if you have the mudevent channel
turned on, you will see an announcement each time a player picks up a
treasure. To toggle that off, the command is '@ broadcast mudevent
treasure'. For a list of broadcast options on any channel, the command is
'@ broadcast <channelName>'.

29. channel accept decline
Syntax: channel accept <channelName>
channel decline <channelName>

An owner of a passworded channel may invite you to join their channel.
These commands can be used to accept and join, or decline the invitation.

30. channel invite uninvite invitation
Syntax: channel invite <channelName> <playerName>
channel uninvite <channelName> <playerName>

Owners of passworded channels can invite others to join with this command.
If you accidentally invited the wrong person, you can uninvite them before
they have accepted the invitation.

31. channel nsfw
Syntax: @ nsfw <channel name>

Socials flagged as NSFW can only be used on channels that are also flagged
as NSFW. To remove the NSFW flag from a channel, use the same syntax as
setting it.

32. soundpack custom channels
It's possible to add unique sounds for custom‑created channels by naming
the sound after the channel name. For example testeroni.ogg for a channel
named testeroni. Place the file in the worlds/sounds/custom/ folder.

33. channel notimeout token
Syntax: @ notimeout <channel name>

This syntax requires a notimeout token and will extend a channel's lifespan
by 30 days and up to 1 year.

34. channel slow chat
Syntax: @ slowchat <channel name> <minimum level> <seconds>

Slow chat can be enabled on a channel by its owner to reduce spam. This
feature requires a cooldown period between messages sent by a player. By
setting a minimum level, slow chat will only apply to players without a
character of at least that level in their account. This is useful for
public channels where anyone can join, helping to prevent trolling. To
disable slow chat, set both the level and seconds to 0.

35. channel nospam spam
Syntax: @ nospam <channel name> <seconds>

This setting can be toggled on by channel owners to help reduce spam.

This setting will detect if the exact same message is sent more than once in
a short period of time. A cooldown will be initiated and the second message
will not go through. If more messages are sent, the cooldown will continue
to increase.

It will also detect if multiple different messages are sent in a short
period of time, block the next message, and initiate a cooldown.

The number of seconds entered when enabling this option is the length of the
desired cooldown.

36. copychannels
Syntax: copychannels <player>

This command copies settings‑‑such as color, brightness, and on/off
status‑‑from the channels listed in 'channel list.' It will not remove you
from any channels your other character hasn't joined. However, it will
attempt to join any channels your other character is part of, provided
there is nothing borrowing you from joining.
